Reports To: Clinical Supervisor / Program Manager

Job Summary

The Behavior Interventionist provides crucial one-on-one direct support to clients (typically children or adolescents) and implements individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) designed by a supervising clinician (BCBA, Psychologist, or Licensed Therapist). This role focuses on reducing challenging behaviors, teaching functional replacement skills, and collecting accurate data across various settings (home, school, or community).

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement specific behavior reduction strategies and skill acquisition goals as outlined in the client’s written treatment plan.
  • Collect accurate and systematic data on targeted behaviors, skill development, and intervention effectiveness during every session.
  • Assist the supervising clinician in the assessment process by collecting observational and narrative data for functional behavior assessments (FBAs).
  • Model and coach appropriate, empirically validated behavioral strategies for parents, caregivers, and school staff to ensure generalization of skills.
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of the client and others while consistently maintaining a positive, structured, and therapeutic environment.
  • Participate in supervision meetings and clinical training as required to maintain fidelity to treatment protocols.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related behavioral health field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working directly with individuals (children/adolescents) displaying challenging behaviors or developmental differences.
  • Familiarity with or experience applying principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to obtain certification in Crisis Prevention/Intervention (e.g., CPI, NCI) within the probationary period.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to client homes or school sites.
