Job Summary
The Behavioral Health Practice Manager is responsible for the overall administrative, financial, and operational success of the private practice or clinic. This role manages non-clinical staff, oversees revenue cycle management, ensures patient satisfaction, and drives the business strategy necessary to support the clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management: Oversee all aspects of the revenue cycle, including billing, coding, claims submission, collections, and working with third-party billing services to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Staff Leadership: Manage and supervise all non-clinical staff, including front office, scheduling, medical records, and administrative assistants; manage hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Compliance & Operations: Ensure the practice adheres to all HIPAA, privacy, and security regulations. Manage vendor contracts, facility maintenance, and technology needs (EHR, phone systems).
- Patient Experience: Develop and implement procedures to optimize the patient experience, including scheduling efficiency, wait times, and complaint resolution.
- Credentialing & Contracting: Oversee the process of provider credentialing with insurance payers and manage contracts to ensure the practice is in-network with key providers.
- Reporting & Strategy: Generate and analyze financial and operational reports (e.g., utilization, accounts receivable) to inform strategic decision-making and business growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Management, or a related field. Master’s degree is often preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience managing the operations and revenue cycle of a healthcare practice, with specific experience in behavioral health preferred.
- Deep knowledge of medical billing, CPT/ICD-10 coding, insurance verification, and compliance standards (HIPAA).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate an administrative team and manage complex financial processes.
