Job Summary

The Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) provides direct counseling services and clinical support to individuals with substance use disorders (SUD). This role involves conducting screenings and assessments, facilitating therapeutic group sessions, delivering psychoeducation, and working with clients to achieve and maintain sobriety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial Substance Use Disorder (SUD) assessments and screenings, determining the appropriate level of care.
  • Facilitate therapeutic group counseling sessions and provide supportive individual counseling focused on addiction, motivation, and recovery.
  • Develop, document, and review measurable, individualized treatment and recovery plans in collaboration with the client.
  • Provide psychoeducation on the neurobiology of addiction, coping skills, and effective relapse prevention strategies.
  • Monitor client progress, document all services accurately in the EHR, and participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Refer and link clients to community recovery support systems, self-help groups (e.g., 12-step), and ongoing social services.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health-related field preferred.
  • Current, active state certification as a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) or equivalent credential (e.g., CAC, CSAC).
  • Documented completion of specific education hours in addiction counseling, ethics, and human services as required for state certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in direct substance use disorder treatment.
  • Proficiency in group facilitation and motivational interviewing techniques.
