Reports To: Clinical Director / Program Supervisor

Job Summary

The Child and Adolescent Therapist provides specialized clinical assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based psychotherapy to children, adolescents (ages 3-18), and their families. This role is dedicated to addressing developmental, emotional, and behavioral challenges through age-appropriate and family-centered therapeutic modalities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and developmental assessments specific to children and adolescents, including family history and mental status examinations.
  • Provide individual therapy utilizing developmentally appropriate techniques, such as Play Therapy, Art Therapy, or Sand Tray, tailored to the client’s age and needs.
  • Deliver specialized, evidence-based treatments for youth, such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for adolescents.
  • Conduct regular family therapy sessions to address systemic issues, improve parent-child communication, and ensure treatment gains are supported in the home environment.
  • Collaborate with schools, pediatricians, child protective services, and other external providers to ensure coordinated care and advocacy for the child.
  • Maintain clinical documentation that meets ethical standards and regulatory requirements for minor clients.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology.
  • Current, active independent state licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or Psychologist) is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of post-licensure experience specializing in therapeutic work with children (ages 3-18) and families.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in play therapy techniques and evidence-based treatments for common youth issues (e.g., ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma).
