Reports To: Medical Director/Chief Psychiatrist

Job Summary

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides advanced psychiatric care, including initial diagnostic assessment, medication management, and psychoeducation, to a diverse patient population within the scope of practice defined by state regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and differential diagnoses across the lifespan.
• Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychotropic medications, including careful titration and side effect monitoring.
• Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests relevant to psychotropic medication management.
• Collaborate with therapists, social workers, and primary care physicians on integrated treatment plans.
• Provide patient and family education regarding mental health disorders and medication protocols.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records and adhere to all regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current, active state licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN/NP).
• Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
• DEA registration and controlled substance certification (as required by the state).
