Job Summary
The Quality Assurance (QA) Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring systems and procedures that ensure the highest standards of care and full compliance with all regulatory, licensing, and accreditation bodies. This role drives continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives based on internal audits and patient outcomes data.
Key Responsibilities
- Internal Audits: Conduct regular, systematic audits of clinical documentation (EHR records, treatment plans, assessments) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to legal and organizational standards (e.g., HIPAA, state licensing).
- Compliance Monitoring: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and ensure organizational compliance with requirements from accrediting bodies (Joint Commission, CARF), state licensing, and payer contracts.
- Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI): Lead CQI committees and projects, identifying areas for process improvement based on incident reports, audit findings, and patient satisfaction data.
- Policy & Procedure: Assist in the development, review, and revision of agency policies and procedures to reflect current clinical best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Training: Provide training to staff on documentation standards, compliance policies, and best practices identified through the QA process.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on audit findings, performance measures, and CQI efforts for the leadership team and governing board.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Social Work, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Compliance, or Risk Management within a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
- Strong familiarity with regulatory standards from the Joint Commission or CARF.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills, with high attention to detail for audit purposes.
- Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or related compliance certification is a plus.
