Job Summary
The Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) provides specialized counseling and support services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring mental health issues, guiding them through the stages of change, recovery planning, and successful recovery maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough substance use disorder assessments and screenings, often utilizing criteria like the ASAM continuum of care.
- Provide evidence-based individual and group counseling sessions, often employing modalities such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), CBT, and Relapse Prevention Techniques.
- Develop person-centered treatment plans focusing on sobriety, skill building, and long-term recovery goals.
- Facilitate educational sessions on the effects of addiction, co-occurring disorders, and accessing recovery resources.
- Collaborate with case management, medical staff, and family members to ensure integrated and comprehensive support.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA and state regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant behavioral health field (e.g., Counseling, Addiction Studies).
- Current state licensure as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or equivalent title (e.g., LADAC, LAC).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience providing direct counseling in SUD treatment (e.g., inpatient, intensive outpatient, or outpatient setting).
- Strong knowledge of various recovery models, including 12-step programs and harm reduction principles.
